EA Planning Layoffs After The Cancellation of Two Moblie Titles

In a video game outlet GamingIndustry.biz report, Electronic Arts is planning layoffs following the closing of two mobile titles.

Two games gone, and layoffs incoming

On Friday, Electronic Arts provided a statement announcing the cancellation of EA Sports MLB Tap Sports and F1 Mobile Racing.

The company stated: “This is a difficult decision that we know impacts passionate communities who have played and enjoyed these games, and we do not take it lightly.”

EA continued, “we extend our thanks and appreciation to the MLB, MLBPA, OneTeam Partners, and MLBPAA for their close and valuable partnership”.

“We are deeply committed to our F1 franchise through our ongoing partnership with Formula One Management,” an EA said.

The cancellation of EA’s mobile racing game will not affect the upcoming F1 24 title, which we should hear more about very soon.

F1 Mobile

On X/Twitter, EA Sports informed fans that F1 Mobile Racing will no longer offer in-game purchases and will be removed from app stores on Feb 23. However, players can continue to use in-game currency until May 24

“We’ve made the difficult decision that 2023 will be our final season. Starting Feb 23, 2024, the game will no longer offer in-app purchases & will be removed from app stores. You can continue to use existing in-game currency thru May 24, after that the game will be inaccessible.”
