Cross-Play is Coming to Madden 24

As we start heading into the summer months, news on the next Madden game is heating up. While we don’t know much about the features coming to this year’s game, some rumors have started to surface. One comes from the popular Madden news Twitter page, MUTLeaks, which suggests that the next Madden game will feature cross-play for the first time in the series. Multiple sources have also confirmed this news with Sports Gamers Online.

Cross-play is heading to Madden 24

According to the tweet from MUTLeaks, multi-platform patch data branches have been removed from this year’s game. This means the patches that update content, rosters, and more are now divided into two branches, gen four and gen five. Ultimately, the patch data for the current generation of consoles will go solely to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC because they will support cross-platform play.

As I stated before, sources have told SGO that cross-play is making its way to Madden 24. Electronic Arts have already featured cross-play in other sports titles like FIFA 23 and NHL 23, but Madden has been a little behind the curve.

A ‘Make or Break’ Year for Madden 24

Earlier this year, sources close to Mike Straw at Insider Gaming reported that this is a “Make or Break” year for Madden. After EA had to issue out Madden 24 beta codes and a 50% discount to players affected by corrupted cloud save files. Electronic Arts threatened its management staff that sales wouldn’t determine the success of its upcoming football game. And if the team doesn’t deliver on Madden 24, then a management change is needed.

EA Promises a better future.

When Electronic Arts announced its closed beta for Madden 24, it also promised fans that franchise mode would get new features. Players have continuously voiced their thoughts on the lack of changes to franchise mode, but EA promises more customization options and more control over leagues in this year’s game.

We are sure more news on Madden 24 will surface very soon, so stay tuned to Sports Gamers Online for more.
