Despite a few months of rough sailing, the last few weeks have seen smooth waters for EA Sports College Football. This week, a lawsuit that put EA Sports’s ability to use player NIL in the upcoming game was dropped following a settlement between the parties. Now, some new information is coming out showing the incredible level of detail EA Sports is attempting to include in the upcoming title.
EA Sports College Football Uniforms and Helmets Details Revealed
Matt Brown is a journalist who has provided accurate information in the past regarding EA Sports College Football video game. Today, he posted some new information on X, formerly known as Twitter. This information dealt with the uniform and helmet assets that EA Sports is requesting from participating schools.
They also asked that the assets be organized into one of four categories. The first category is the assets that are considered must-haves for the game. The next category includes rotational pieces that are considered high priority. These would be alternates that are worn every year or multiple times a year. The third tier includes throwbacks, one-offs, and alternate helmets. EA says they will try to include as many of these as possible. The fourth and final category is described as “Likely won’t include on release but could consider including in future DLC.”
According to multiple email threads I've inspected, EA has asked for helmet and uniform assets in four categories.
I haven't seen specific uniform designs for a ton of schools, but every school I have seen has submitted more than two uniform combinations: pic.twitter.com/fz37ZVROQt

Matt Brown goes on to note that there is an extreme level of detail being requested by EA Sports. On top of the assets, the schools are asked about uniform patches as well. This includes the design and placement of “captains patches, bowl patches” and more. Finally, Brown revealed that EA Sports asked the schools for images of “campus icons, crowds, historical images, etc.”
These revelations tell us a little bit about EA Sports plans for the upcoming College Football game. First, we now know that EA Sports is likely to have some kind of DLC for the game. This isn’t incredibly shocking news, as most live service sports games have DLC throughout the game’s life cycle. However, it is nice to know that EA Sports at least plans to support the game beyond its initial release. It is also cool to know that new uniform combinations could be part of what is added to the game post-release.
Second, we know that EA Sports is absolutely sweating the details when it comes to getting the atmosphere and immersion of college football correct. This is incredibly exciting for a football nut like me to hear. The part about captain patches could mean that players will be able to name team captains in Dynasty mode. Of course, this is just speculation at this time, but it would be a very cool feature to include. Also, having players wear bowl game patches on their jerseys like they do in real life would be very exciting to see.
For now, we will have to wait until more information on this game continues to leak out. Sports Gamers Online will keep you updated on all future information on the return of college football video games.
