There are many similarities between the mobile game platform and the Nintendo Switch. As a result, it has become common over the past few years for developers to bring their mobile games to the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s home console has a few football games on its Nintendo eShop. Today, developer New Star Games announced that its football mobile hit Retro Bowl is coming to Nintendo Switch in early 2022.

Retro Bowl Coming to Switch

Retro Bowl, which received our Best Mobile Sports Game award in 2020, has gained over 7 million downloads and received a 4.8 review score with nearly a million reviews. The game’s visuals and gameplay both take heavy inspiration from classic NES football titles like Tecmo Bowl. Currently, Retro Bowl is the number one free-to-play mobile game on iOS. With New Star Games expanding to the Nintendo market, Retro Bowl perfectly fits the Switch’s mobility and accessibility. In addition, retro football games are still very popular amongst football enthusiasts. You can check out our Top Three Retro NFL Games here

“We are very excited to see a Switch version of Retro Bowl,” New Star Games’ Simon Read told Nintendo Life in an interview. “The NES was of course home of the legendary Tecmo Bowl, from which Retro Bowl was inspired, so the Switch would be the perfect platform for our game to make its console debut.” New Star Games’ Simon Read told Nintendo Life.

Retro Bowl is currently out on iOS and Android for free. If you don’t want to play it on mobile, Players can try the browser version of the game on Poki.
