Every year we like to look back at some of the best sports and racing games of the year. We’ve played many great games this year, but Forza Horizon 5 stands out amongst the pack. Forza doesn’t only take our SGO Game of The Year award; the racer also wins Best Racing and Best AAA Game.
Since its release in November, Forza Horizon 5 has rapidly become a fan favorite. Playground Games’ newest racer gained over 1 million players from its Premium Edition release and has hit 10 million players over the holiday season. The game has received massive praise for its RPG-like features and beautifully crafted fictional Mexico.
Unfortunately, we didn’t review Horizon 5 on Sports Gamers Online, but the game has topped our Top 5 Best Sports/ Racing games on the Xbox Game Pass list. In addition to our list, Forza cleaned up The Game Awards, winning three categories, including Best Audio Design.
Forza Horizon 5 wins Best Racing Game
Our racing category wasn’t short of great titles this year. WRC 10 kept us busy with updates and new game modes. Hot Wheels Unleashed was a fun, action-packed game that reminded us how awesome Hot Wheel cars are. Lastly, F1 2021 was one of the best racers we played this year, and the game received a perfect 10/10 on our SGO review. However, Forza Horizon 5 is our SGO Best racing Game.
Best AAA Game
On to the games with massive amounts of financial backing, here is our Best AAA Game of 2021.
MLB The Show 21 made its way to Xbox and remained a good game with a few hiccups. The game received a 7 out of 10, as the Franchise mode feels “abandoned,” and the presentation could use a refresh. Other games like NHL 22, FIFA 22, and NBA 2K22 showcased good ideas and new features but fell short of Playground Games racer.
Forza Horizon 5 is out now on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
