We can now count on one hand how many days there are until Madden NFL 24 releases into early access. With just days to go until we finally get our hands on the game, we have finally gotten a deeper look at the return of Superstar mode in this year’s game. The new career experience is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions of the game.

NFL Draft Experience

The Superstar mode will begin with you going through the NFL Draft experience, with NFL legend Deion Sanders serving as your player’s mentor. You can choose to play as a QB, RB, WR, LB, or CB, just like in last year’s game. Your player’s starting ratings will be based on the archetype that you select. These ratings will be important for your performance in the combine drills.

There are four combine drills: the 40-yard dash, bench press, broad jump, and 3-cone shuttle. Your results in these drills will be ranked against the real-life results of other 2023 NFL Draft prospects. You will also earn rewards from these drills that you can apply to your player prior to the draft.

After the drills are complete, you will be put through some position-specific drills. Your performance in these drills will have a significant impact on where you are selected in the draft. You will also be put through Combine interviews, where you will answer football trivia questions to try and move even further up the draft board.

Next, you’ll go to the NFL Draft. Your draft position will be based on both your Combine performance and the positional needs of the teams making the picks. You will also have an option when starting Superstar mode to skip the entire draft process and just pick which team you want to be on.

Hit That Line

Once your in the NFL, your on field performance will matter more than ever. The new in-game Player Grading system will give you a player grade based on your performance. Making good or bad decisions will cause this grade to go up and down in real-time.

Superstar Missions provide you a series of objectives to work towards to earn rewards. You can decide which quests you want to be actively working towards. These include on-field stats, career milestones, team wins or losses, and off-field opportunities. These off-field opportunities include being able to sign marketing deals with brands like Nike, Jordan, and Adidas. Every week, you will be presented with several options for what to do in your off-time. You can take part in community events, training, rest and recovery, or Mini-Games.

The Social Media feed will be more focused on your Superstar. Every week, you will see reactions to your performance and your off-field activities from NFL personalities and insiders. There will also be live action segments from the MaddenCast podcast focused on your player featuring Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder.

Progression and Customization

The player progression system has been reworked in the new Superstar mode. You’ll be able to have a unique character and avatar for each of the five playable positions. You can customize these avatar’s look and ratings independently of your other players.

There is a new Tiered Ability system in Superstar mode. With this, ratings are tied to on-field activities and stats. This system will reward you with better abilities once you either improve your stats or have some successful reps on the field. For example, if you have the Deep Throw Elite ability equipped on your QB, you can upgrade this ability by either increasing your deep throw accuracy rating or successfully completing more deep throws in game.  Along with how your player plays, you can also customize how they look. Custom emotes, and celebrations can be equipped to make your player unique.

Superstar Showdown

Alongside Superstar mode is a new 3v3 mode that let’s you play with your friends with your Superstar players. This new Superstar Showdown mode pits you and your friends in a fast-paced game where you can continue to progress your player. You will play both offense and defense with your player, regardless of what position they usually are. This mode will also feature Player Grading and will allow you to earn exclusive gear and boosts.

The mode will be focused on getting you into the action as quickly as possible. There is no play-call screen, no first downs, and a first to 21 scoring system. The mode will be refreshed throughout the year with live events and changing game rules.

My initial check is for $27,000. This is the first time I’ve actually earned something, and I’m very happy about it. I’m going to work even harder from now on and I can’t wait for my paycheck sb-50 the following week. For further information, click the home tab.
