On Tuesday, EA Sports announced the newest installment in its yearly racing series, F1 24. In addition, Codemasters revealed the game’s release date and some of the new features that fans can expect. However, while F1 24 is racing out on May 31, there is one system the game won’t be available for: the Nintendo Switch.

Why Will F1 24 Not Release on Switch?

Codemasters announced that its latest racing game will feature an overhauled career mode and a new handling system. The F1 developer also announced the game’s Spring release date and that it will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. But why not the Nintendo Switch?

Sports Gamers Online has contacted Codemasters’ PR team to confirm that F1 24 will not be on Nintendo’s home console; however, while we didn’t receive a reason why, we can speculate.

Usually, developers will conclude that the Nintendo Switch is not a powerful enough console to support the game, and that may be true. The Switch has no newly-released racing games, only remasters like GRID Autosport and NFS Hot Pursuit.

With the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 possibly releasing sometime this year, hopefully, we start seeing EA’s F1 games come over to Nintendo. Maybe the stronger hardware will incentivize EA Sports to develop its racing game for the console. I see it as a win-win situation for EA Sports as the company would make more money from sales, and fans can take the F1 games on the go.

EA Sports F1 24 races out on May 31 across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Fans can pre-order the standard or Champions Edition of the game here.
