Today, EA dropped a bomb on all rally enthusiasts. EA Sports WRC is making its debut in the rally genre after buying Codemasters in 2021. That means, yes, the developers of Colin McRae Rally, Dirt, and the F1 series, are working on EA Sports WRC. The game will be arriving on November 3rd, with pre-orders allowing players to get it three days earlier. WRC will be the official game of the FIA World Rally Championship, and it’s coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via the EA App, Epic Store, and Steam.

EA Sports Plans to Debut New WRC This November

Utilising the Unreal Engine, Codemasters are bringing the Dirt Rally physics to an official WRC game which the fans have been dreaming about. Senior Creative Director, Ross Gowing made the statement “EA Sports WRC is the purest form of motorsport where every stage is a fight against the clock, terrain, and yourself.” With claims like this, many will be cheering for VR support to bring the sim that much closer to reality. Along with all of this, EA WRC will have 18 official locations from asphalt, to gravel, to snow stages. If that wasn’t enough, on release there will be 78 different cars from the past and present of the sport.

For the sim enthusiast, there will be two different setups a driver can use. One of them was developed with help from FIA Junior WRC racer, Jon Armstrong. Players will be able to choose a professional set-up that emulates the experience of controlling a real rally car. In the reveal trailer, we can hear the roar of the engines with many complimenting the realism. Codemasters did not stop there. The introduction of a car builder will allow players to create their own rally car from scratch. This lends to a more player-focused experience and the fans will welcome this with open arms. Finally, WRC will allow 32 players cross-platform to duke it out and set the world on fire.
