Another FIFA Game is Planned, but without EA

FIFA isn't done with FIFA.

Electronic Arts and the football governing body, FIFA, have gone their separate ways. Over the last 30 years, EA has produced one of the world’s most famous football games and will continue to do so under the new title EA Sports FC. However, while the football governing body won’t continue its business with the massive publisher, the company is still working on another FIFA game.

The NEW FIFA game, FIFA 25.

According to the chief reporter of The Times, Martyn Ziegler, FIFA president Giovanni Infantino wants to go ‘head-to-head’ with EA Sports FC for football supremacy. How will he do this? By making his own football game.

“The new FIFA game – the FIFA 25, 26, 27 and so on – will always be the best egame for any girl or boy, we will have news on this very soon.”

Since FIFA is a company that only deals in football-related matters, we don’t know what developer will be creating this new game. Many companies are developing football games, like Strikerz Inc, but taking on an established name like Electronic Arts is a major task.

Insider Gaming’s owner, Tom Henderson, shared his thoughts on Ziegler’s tweet: “I think FIFA is going to find out real quick how hard it is to develop a consistent and reliable game that people will buy year after year.”

While Electronic Arts’ FIFA games aren’t perfect, the publisher has continued pulling in massive numbers yearly. The series’ latest title, FIFA 23, sold 10.3 million copies during its launch week.

The Future of FIFA

Since the split, many rumors about who would gain the FIFA license and create a new football experience have surfaced. One is that 2K is interested in the license and has plans to ‘market’ a new football game. However, this could be a non-simulation game, and the FIFA rights might be used in an upcoming Lego sports game, given 2K’s recent partnership with the toy firm.
