Today, EA Sports announced that the FIFA Global Series (FGS) will return for the third straight year in FIFA 20. Competition will be spread across nine months and features a total of $3 million in prizes. Here’s everything you need to know about the FIFA 20 Global Series – Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup.

FIFA 20 GLOBAL SERIES

The EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series, The Road to FIFA eWorld Cup has officially begun.  Per EA, “As a competitive player, there’s really only one goal for the season: qualifying for and then winning the FIFA eWorld Cup. To get there, players will compete in a number of different competitive events. Each event will provide players an opportunity to earn crucial Global Series Points which will be tracked on fifa.gg.”

The top 16 players on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will earn a seat at the FIFA eWorld Cup. To begin earning FGS ranking points, you must first become “FUT Champions Verified,” which requires you to register online and win 27 or more matches in a single weekend of FUT Champions Weekend League. You must complete these two steps before February 3rd, 2020.

This year, EA made four more countries eligible for FUT Champions verification. Those countries are Ecuador, Egypt, Uruguay and Vietnam. You must be at least 16 years of age at the time you register.

FGS REGULAR SEASON

The FIFA 20 Global Series will once again feature an array of events that will earn players ranking points on The Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup. This includes:

  • FUT Champions Cups
  • FIFA Majors
  • Licensed Qualifying Events (LQEs)
  • Official League Qualifying Tournaments
  • eChampions League
  • eMA Trophy Tournaments
  • PlayStation Country Tournaments
  • Weekend League

FGS PLAYOFFS

Following the regular season, the FIFA Global Series Playoffs begin. The top 64 players on the FGS Points leaderboard will be invited to a playoff event for their console. This will be the final chance for competitors to earn enough points to be invited to the eWorld Cup.
