Canuck Play announced today a new partnership with Wilson Sporting Goods to feature its Wilson GST football in Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football 2019.
Wilson and Maximum Football
In a press release today, Canuck Play President David Winter announced the move, as he noted that this move was geared towards giving gamers realistic equipment in its games. Winter added that he hopes that Wilson will hopefully be “one of many” equipment partners be a part of Maximum Football.
Wilson, which is one of the world’s largest manufactures of sporting goods, supplies footballs for the College Football Playoff, as well as the NFL. Wilson’s footballs were already featured in Madden, and now their GST football will be in Maximum Football 2019.
The Wilson GST (which stands for Game Saving Technology), was built “for the ultimate grip”, and is currently used by over 180 U.S. college programs and 38 high school football state associations. It is also the only football that offers patented sewn on stripes and ACL composite leather stripes.
This seems to be a positive step forward for a franchise that’s looking to take the next step towards a more realistic gaming experience. The looks of the game was one of the major flaws of this year’s game, as pointed out by our senior editor Michael Straw in his review of Maximum Football 2018. Whether a move like this makes the game more aesthetically pleasing or not remains to be seen.
Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football 2019 is currently slated for a September 2019 release.
