the refurbishment includes a new scoreboard, backboards, repairs to the court, and an art installation designed by award-winning, multi-disciplinary artist, Ben Johnston, and multimedia artist, Trevor Wheatley. With an ever-growing basketball fanbase in Toronto, this is a special moment for underprivileged kids in Toronto and everyone involved.

Janie Romoff, Forestry and Recreation General Manager at Toronto Parks is grateful for help in the community amid a pandemic. Continuing, “The support from 2K Foundations has made a huge difference to the children in our community who benefit from better access to play.”

Moreover, “In a community that’s been greatly impacted by COVID-19, the impact of 2K Foundations’ contributions are invaluable and will motivate our kids to pursue their passions on and off the court once it is safe to do so.”

Artists and Toronto natives The Weeknd and Nav are also grateful for their involvement. The Weeknd is the co-founder of HXOUSE. “Working with his hometown of Toronto and 2K Foundations on this community enrichment effort is something that is personal to me.”

Comparatively, Nav states it is an honor to give back to the community that he grew up in. He is happy to give children opportunities to be successful through sports and music.

New Opportunities for all

Over the next year, 2K Foundations will continue its support of a variety of projects involving music and education. Take-Two president, David Ismailer, felt inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and knew he had to do something. He is hopeful they can continue to do more work for communities around the world. Throughout 2020-2021, 2K partnered with NBA players, WNBA players, and artists to create new opportunities for kids. You can find a list of them on the foundation’s press release.
