This week, EA Sports announced a new set of esports competitions for EA Sports FC. These new tournaments will have players representing clubs from some of the biggest leagues in the world. These players will battle it out on the virtual pitch for their share of prizes, and a spot in the FC Pro World Championship.
FC Pro Leagues
FC Pro Leagues is a new set of tournaments featuring 32 of the most well-known leagues and federations from around the world. This includes Premier League, Bundesliga, MLS, and more. The best EA Sports FC players in the world will represent clubs from these leagues. These competitors will look to win their share of the $1.3 million prize pool.
Sam Turkbas, Senior Director & Commissioner for Football Esports at EA, said, “FC Pro Leagues is part of our most ambitious football esports competition to-date with FC Pro, bringing together a record number of our league partner programs into a unified, star-studded ecosystem. FC Pro Leagues will set the benchmark for how leagues reach young fans on a global scale as well as how supporters engage with their favorite clubs in new ways.”
On top of earning prizes and representing their favorite clubs, players will be looking to earn a spot in the first ever FC Pro World Championship which will take place later this year. Competitors PHzin, Vejrgang, Levi De Weerd, and Emre Yilmaz all qualified for the World Championship earlier this year through the FC Pro Open. This leaves just 28 spots remaining in what is sure to be one of the biggest esports events of the year. The top players in the European FC Pros Leagues will also have a chance to earn a place in the eChampions League.
EA Sports FC 24 will offer players new ways to represent these leagues in-game. Select leagues will have new vanity items and content that players will be able to unlock in Ultimate Team. FC Pro League competitions will also introduce Showdown Squad Building Challenges into Ultimate Team. Players will be able to complete these challenges and objectives to unlock powerful Ultimate Team items.
By combining some of the biggest global football leagues such as the Premier League, Bundesliga, and MLS with the world of competitive gaming, EA is creating an ecosystem where both esports big tower tiny square athletes and traditional football fans can come together.
