With EA Sports FC being announced as the official platform for UEFA eEURO, the event has become one of the most anticipated for eSports soccer fans. The event sees 55 teams from 50 different European countries compete across regions such as Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, Poland, and more. Also, the active attention of UEFA eEURO 2024 attracted the GGbet eSport community as well as newcomers with earnings of $100,000.
UEFA eEURO 2024
As the name implies, the tournament will be held between players from the European region. The tournament will begin in March, with qualifiers broadcasting online. For some teams, an online qualification procedure should also begin in December-January (the registration deadline was January 13).
As mentioned above, players from 50 countries can participate, but each region has different requirements for getting into the tournament. The official Battlefy website indicates that players from 21 countries will register directly on the platform. These are players from countries such as:
- Estonia
- Greece
- Finland
- Kazakhstan
- Hungary
- Lithuania
- Spain
- Ukraine
- Kosovo
- Cyprus
- Montenegro and other 10 countries.
If we are talking about other regions, then the procedure for registering and getting into the tournament is different. To do this, each player will need to contact the appropriate organization/association in their region to gain access to the selection for UEFA eEURO 2024. It doesn’t sound easy, but it is not for those already part of e-football. This feature applies to countries such as Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Norway, Poland, and several others.
Prize Fund
UEFA eEURO has a fairly small prize fund of $100,000 compared to the “classic” version of UEFA events. It sounds funny to compare EURO 2024 prize money and prize pool distribution: $10.2 (€9.25) for EACH participant (24 teams total). This is pretty good money for eSports, but only the teams from 8th to 1st place will be rewarded.
- 5th-8th place — $7,500 each
- 3rd-4th place — $10,000 each
- 2nd place — $20,000
- 1st place — $30,000
The tournament is only for adult players and those with a passport from the country they are attempting to qualify for. Everything here is quite strict and is checked at the registration stage.
Interesting Facts and Features of UEFA eEURO 2024
55 national teams have already confirmed their participation. The “hottest” stage awaits those teams whose countries have more than 64 participants and will fight in the BO1 match, which excludes mirror matches such as Poland – Poland, France – France, etc. After all, if the number of players for the national team is more than 64, they will fight among themselves to reach the playoffs. In addition, the official sponsors of UEFA eEURO 2024 are truly industry giants, including:
- Coca Cola
- Hisense
- Booking.com
- Adidas
- Atos
- Vivo
- Lidl
Players will demonstrate their skills and experience on the PlayStation 5 console, further demonstrating that e-football opportunities keep pace with modern technology. Now, all that remains is to wait for the start of the main part. In truth, the qualifiers are not the most interesting thing about UEFA eEURO 2024, which is why they last so long. But already in March, more interesting derbies and duels of the best await us. Starting in July, players, spectators, and bettors will move into the active stage of the grand final and the fight for the main prize.
