Last week, Electronic Arts released its deep dive into FIFA 22’s gameplay. This deep dive detailed how Hypermotion changes FIFA’s gameplay on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Today, FIFA’s popular team play mode gets a deep dive, and a look into what in store for Pro Clubs on FIFA 22.
Drop-in Matches
The patch notes detail many new features and changes coming to FIFA 22. The first one is drop-in matches; this feature hasn’t seen many updates in recent years.
Drop-in Matches – Every Pro Clubs player knows it’s not always an easy task to gather 10 teammates in a lobby at the same time, all of the time. With this in mind, the new Drop-In experience allows you to squad up with up to 4 friends, or recent teammates, prior to searching for a Drop-In match. With this change, there is now a way to to earn XP for your Pro, while playing with your Club teammates, but without it impacting your Club record. You can also play with friends from other Clubs without having to leave your Club.
Drop-in matches have a big player base, and these changes help cater to the player that don’t want to commit to a club.
Player Growth In Pro Clubs
Electronic Arts has hinted at a new player growth system within pro clubs. While how players accumulate points hasn’t changes much, the changes to perks and the additions of Archetypes should spice things up.
Perks – Every Virtual Pro starts with one Perk Slot unlocked, which can be filled with one of 3 starter Perks. From there, you’ll earn at least one new Perk per level, and you’ll unlock additional Perk Slots at level 9 and level 19. This means that when your Virtual Pro reaches its max level, you’ll be able to choose from up to 26 different Perks to equip in your 3 Perk Slots.
This new system helps players create their own personal playstyle and cater strictly to the attributes that matter to that playstyle.
Archetypes – Archetypes are acquired through Skill Points, made available at the end of a skill tree branch. You can equip up to 3 Archetypes, depending on how you decide to allocate your Skill Points.
Team Customization
With recent announcements customization has been an ongoing theme for FIFA 22. However, for pro clubs, we are seeing what options are available to customize for the first time. Not only can players customize kits, but match ball, home stadium and chants.
Customization – One of the most consistent pieces of feedback we’ve heard from the Pro Clubs community is regarding the Team Customization options. This year, we’ve been able to expand Team Customization and give you more choices than before.
More customization options have been added to pro clubs over the last few FIFA titles, and this is the biggest upgrade we have seen this far.
Women In Pro Clubs
Electronic Arts has always been on the forefront for diversity in its sports games. They look to continue that with the addition of women for the first-time pro clubs.
“We’ve added more diversity to the Virtual Pro creator, enabling you to better express yourself by creating either a male or female Virtual Pro.”
