Recently Konami released Season 0: Ready For Action. Next up is an overhaul of the game mechanics, movement, and animation updates. Konami developers were in Malaysia for a fan-focused event in the Battle Arena. The event showcased a celebrity face-off with Malaysian content creators playing with an ex-pro Malaysian footballer.
Very light on details, but anything is good right now
It is not news to anyone that the initial eFootball release was a total failure. Being the lowest-rated game on Steam is not an achievement any game dev wants, but it may have been justified in this instance. The game has come far with continual updates yet it still isn’t at the levels of the PES days. Though, it isn’t too far off. The gameplay is now starting to feel smoother, but the lack of game modes is really what’s hurting it. Once again, there was no answer for the fans who wanted an update on the Master League Konami promised. With only four months left of 2023, it seems Konami really won’t be delivering on that. This next major update will be coming in September on an unknown date.
The next “major update” will be called “eFootball 2024“. This feels very much like what you might see from the annual release we would get in the past. If this is just marketing to bring back players or a genuine massive change for the game we’re yet to know. During a presentation at the Battle Arena, the development team shared a spoiler video showcasing the changes. The mechanics, movement, and animations have all seen changes here. The eFootball 2023 animations were too robotic, so those will be accepted with open arms. Some people who were in attendance managed a playtest on the new game. Everything is smoother, according to them, the graphics have improved, and the gameplay feels nicer than eFootball 2023. Konami ended the event by asking for feedback to improve the game with, queue angry Master League comments.
