With the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the removal of Russian products, sponsors, and assets continues to dominate storylines. Last week, FIFA (the organization) announced Russia would be suspended from upcoming international matches and The World Cup. In addition, Electronic Arts have announced its removal of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from its Football titles. This removal will affect FIFA 22, FIFA Moblie, and FIFA Online. The American publisher is actively evaluating other areas changes can be made to its games.

“In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports has initiated processes to remove the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from EA Sports FIFA products including FIFA 22, FIFA mobile and FIFA online.”

The Russian Premier League currently has 16 teams including Zenit St. Petersburg and CSKA Moscow. Players who play with these clubs would have to find alternatives once they are removed.

Recent Removals From Electronic Arts

Recently, Electronic Arts had to remove a few players from its extensive roster of footballers. In late January, Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood was removed from FIFA 22; He was arrested due to sexual assault allegations. In addition, Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy was also arrested for sexual assault allegations and was removed from FIFA 22.
