Ever since NHL 09, fans of the EA Sports NHL series have been waiting for the game to return to PC. Unfortunately, they’re going to have to continue to wait as it doesn’t appear that NHL 23 will be on PC either.
The team at EA Sports announced the upcoming NHL 23 Technical Test with the ability to sign up for the beta on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. What wasn’t there was the option for PC which, while not totally surprising as even the Madden 23 beta wasn’t on PC despite the game coming to the platform, is a disappointment to see. In what likely confirmed its exclusion from the platform, NHL gameplay producer Ben Ross said, in a message seemingly in reply to a fan via DM, that the team is continuing to look into it for the future.
“There has always been a contingent that would like the game on PC,” Ross said. “You can be sure the team evaluates it as a business opportunity each year.”
It’s the same thing fans have heard for years, and it remains no different. Games like NHL 04 and NHL 09 continue to see yearly mod updates to keep the games as up to date as possible. It looks like that’s going to have to be the case again until EA Sports decides to bring the franchise back to the platform.
