Much like with Madden 21, EA will offer FIFA 21 gamers an opportunity to upgrade to the next-generation when the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 launches.
FIFA 21 Duel Entitlement
As part of the Duel Entitlement program, gamers can upgrade their copy of FIFA 21 at no extra cost to the next-generation of consoles once the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 systems are released. This offer will be available up until the launch of FIFA 22.
Gamers do not need to buy FIFA 21 digitally in order to benefit from the Duel Entitlement programs. While gamers who do buy the game digitally are eligible for the program, those who chose to buy a physical copy of FIFA 21 for the Xbox One and PS4 will be able to download a digital version of the game for next-generation as well.
However, just like with Madden 21, gamers who buy physical copies of the Playstation 4 will not be able to acquire the game for the Playstation 5 Digital Edition.
Will old-gen saved data transfer over as well?
Per EA, all progress that gamers make in Football Ultimate Team and VOLTA FOOTBALL will transfer over to the next-generation. However, keep in mind that data for the PS4 can only transfer to the PS5. The same goes for the Xbox family of consoles.
One other important piece of information is that gamers who enter the Duel Entitlement program will be able to play FIFA 21 on both old-generation and new-generations consoles, should they choose to do so.
