EA Sports has announced the upcoming launch of F1 22. Releasing on Friday, July 1, F1 22 marks the first full installment since EA purchased developer Codemasters.

“We look forward to welcoming our players to the new era of Formula 1®,” said Lee Mather, F1® Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, in a press release. “Alongside the real-world changes, we have updated the physics to accommodate the new aero rules and re-worked the tyre model, making the handling more true to life. With new and updated circuits, Adaptive AI, F1® Life, and expanded gameplay options, there has never been a better time for players to take their seats and live the life of an F1® driver.”

The game will include the debut of the Miami Grand Prix along with a number of gameplay improvements and features for players new and old.

New to the series are hybrid cars, an overhauled rules system, and the inclusion of F1 sprint races for the first time. Also included in F1 22 is a new F1 Life mode that allows players to “step into the glamorous world of Formula 1”. The F1 Life gives players a customizable hub to show off their collection of supercars, clothing, and accessories. These collections are earned via gameplay, the paid Podium Pass, and the in-game brand store.

F1 22 Review

CRE1277-MLB

On the track, F1 22 introduces new immersive and broadcast options to help make the game more your own.

From EA:

“Select Immersive, and players will face risk-reward challenges, which could be the difference between a place on the podium or finishing outside the points. Broadcast takes the pressure off, with controlled and authentic cinematics that keeps players close to the action.

New Adaptive AI keeps less experienced players competitive throughout each race, with opposing AI racers tailored to match the skill level. Accessible menus and handling also return to help players get to the action quickly without the need to understand the complexities of the sport. The refreshed Practice Programs offer more variety with new scoring systems and on-track visualizations. This helps players navigate each twist and turn to perfection before racing for those all-important championship points.”

For the VR fan, F1 22 brings VR racing to the series for those playing on PC with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headset.

This year’s game comes off a game that SGO rated 10/10 as a “Masterpiece”. Stick with SGO for more, including a preview of F1 22 in the coming weeks.
